Style Noir

A great photo shoot from September 2009 Vogue Italia. We have a classical and modern femme fatale. Blonde, brunette, redhead. Probably my second favourite photo shoot in this style.

A Head for Business And a Body for Sin

A photo shoot for Swedish magazine Acne Paper, fall 2012. The shoot’s title is a quote from “Working Girl” (1988) but the photos clearly relate to the 1950s and movies with the ladies Hepburn – Audrey and Katherine.

Thinking of a Glamorous Time

Thinking of a Glamorous Time

This photo shoot by the incomparable Ellen Von Unwerth was published in Vogue Italia in April 2012. Kelly Mittenford looks like a young Jean Harlow – marvelous!

Photo shoot with Anksfoto

The photo shoot with Anks took place a year ago – it was a birthday present. It was my first time as a model in front of a camera. In retrospect – I could have prepared myself better. For instance, I could have not done it the day after my birthday party 🙂 But I come back to it with great sentiment – Anks has a gift for taking pictures, I always find something interesting in her photos, something I’ve never seen in myself before.

Happy birthday to me!

happy birthday to me

It’s my birthday today, so I took a little liberty of preparing a wish list of gifts I will perhaps give to myself one day 🙂

1. Maya Hansen corset. I liked the Cake line the most but unfortunately it’s mostly unavailable now. However, after seeing the corset available in LiParie, I’d gladly have any of them. They’re beautifully made.

2. A Lady Carotta dress. Again, when I look at them, I’d gladly have them all 🙂 But the houndstooth one would be great both for work and for a retro party.

3. Burlesque and the Art of the Teese / Fetish and the Art of the Teese. Dita Von Teese’s albums do not need a justification.

4. A ticket to London Burlesque Festival. One of the biggest burlesque festivals in the world. 10 evenings filled with shows from stars such as Catherine D’Lish, Marianne Cheesecake, Eliza Delite or our own Betty Q! I think this one doesn’t really need a justification either 😉

5. In a year from now , perform onstage with my own act. Oh, I wish.

Mam wrażenie, że ostatnimi czasy obchodzenie świąt takich jak Walentynki stało się mocno kontrowersyjne. Wszak to kicz! A w ogóle uczucia można sobie wyznawać codziennie! (a kto Wam broni?)

I mocno upiorne.

Killers Kill, Dead Men Die

Photo shoot by Annie Leibowitz and Michael Roberts appeared in Vanity Fair in March 2007. “Killers Kill, Dead Men Die” according to them is an enigmatic classic noir film which one was almost made. Could have been made. Maybe it never was made. Maybe it exists. The whole thing is very mysterious.

Vanity Fair itself writes:

Every element of the genre is here: The Femme Fatale, sultry, scheming, and doped up on tranquilizers; The Private Dick, crawling through the gutter in search of a diamond garter; The Chanteuse and The Champ; The Doll and The Aristocrat; The Spy who knows too little and The Moll who knows too much; mistaken identity and double indemnity; high life and low society; shocking—though possibly nonsensical—plot turns; despair, lust, blood violence, and the cruel fist of fate. Finally, lurking in the shadows behind all this is the menacing figure of The Killer. And what does he do? Why, he does what all killers do: he kills.

On Vanity Fair’s webpage (link at the end of the post) you will find descriptions of scenes depicted on these beautiful photographs.

Obrazek

Marta and I agreed on the photo shoot quite spontaneously – one day I came by her place with a few clothes and a bag of make up and we shot the photos at her apartment. It was my first photo shoot in which I consciously wanted to refer to a specific style – in this case the theme was femme fatale.

Marta has a fantastic approach to models – she immediately handed me a glass of port “because it has a photogenic colour!”. I admit it helped also to relax in front of the camera 🙂

A couple of days alter Women Alternative’s fanpage announced a competition for the cover of their calendar so I immediately informed Marta who submitted one of the pictures from this photo shoot. I was Lola Noir’s double debut – not only was it the first time I used that pseudonym, but also it was the first time I took part in a competition as a model. I didn’t win, but the number of votes cast for my photo (over 160, which gave me the 9th place for over 40 submissions!) has truly surprised and touched me – in that respect I surpassed admired by me burlesque performers such as Pin Up Candy or Kitty Van Purr.  Participation in this contest was very flattering and encouraged me to develop my modeling activities – more on that soon 🙂

Naughty Lola

They call me naughty Lola
The wisest girl on earth
At home my pianola
It works for all it’s worth
Now I tell you a secret
Don’t hammer on the keys
For a little pianissimo

Is always bound to please

They call me naughty Lola
The wisest girl on earth
At home my pianola
It works for all it’s worth
The boys all love my music

I can’t keep them away
So my little pianola

Keeps working night and day

“Die Fesche Lola” – music: Friedrich Holländer, lyrics: Robert Liebmann.

I am Lola. I do not have a pianola but a piano could be found. This is my place online in which I will share what I do and what turns me on. I’ll see you!
